Gerber
+ coordinates
= Gerber X3.

In Gerber, a component is just a collection of lines. EFA CAMverse merges these drawing objects into real components using your customer’s pick & place list. From this you create your own assembly plan and get real CAD/CAM data.

The starting point in everyday EMS work

In Gerber, a component is just a collection of lines.

The customer supplies classic Gerber data plus a pick & place list from their CAD system. Two files that belong together and know nothing about each other.

Gerber X/X2.gbr

13 loose drawing objects

Pads, lines, drill holes: all separate drawing objects. Which of them form a component together, the file does not know.

Pick & place list.csv / .txt / .xlsx

Only reference, position and rotation. And every list looks different: different columns, different separators, different units.

Anyone who has to build with this depends on what the customer supplies.
How it works

Lines become components.

  1. Load the coordinate fileJust as the customer supplies it – no reformatting.
  2. Merge into componentsThe loose drawing objects automatically become complete components.
  3. Check transparentlyAfter each run, a report shows which components are assigned reliably. If one is off, you move it to the right place in the view with 2 clicks.

What is it all for?

Two goals, one data set.

As soon as the drawing objects are merged into components, you work with the data set as with real Gerber X3.

Goal 1 · The assembly plan

The way production needs it.

Regardless of what the customer supplies.

  • Top and bottom as separate assembly views
  • Assembly variant with a click – components that are not placed disappear
  • Assembly plan as PDF, bill of materials and coordinates as CSV or Excel

Goal 2 · Real CAD/CAM data

Your data. Your format.

The extended data set is real CAD/CAM and can be passed on to other machines and programs.

YOUR DATA SETGerber X3 (for assembly)
GenCAD 1.4for test and placement machines
DXFfor mechanics, e.g. programming the depaneler
CSV / Excelcoordinates and bill of materials for machine programming or back to the customer

And therefore more independent of what the customer supplies.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Which coordinate files can I load?

You load the list just as your customer supplies it – whether from Altium, KiCad, EAGLE or another CAD system. No reformatting needed; should the automatic import ever fail, you adjust it in a dialog.

What happens if a component is assigned incorrectly?

After each run, a report shows which components are assigned reliably and which are not. If one is off, you move it to the right place in the view with 2 clicks.

Which formats can I export to afterwards?

You pass the data set on as GenCAD 1.4 or DXF. You export the checked coordinates and the bill of materials as CSV or Excel, the assembly plan as PDF, PNG or JPG.

Is my manufacturing data uploaded?

No. EFA CAMverse is a native Windows application and works entirely locally – no cloud, no upload.
